Hello everyone. Thanks to some quick work by tournament organizer Eric Desjardins, I was able to update the rankings page for the NA Stiga tour following last weekend's Gatineau tournament.

You'll notice some changes as the 2006 Canada Challenge is subbed out for the 2008 numbers. Some people's rankings rose and they didn't even play.

The tournament was a solid B-rated one with a deep talented field, but it did not have the minimum number of players, so it ended up a C-rated event. That seems to be a recurring theme, so it looks like we'll have to revisit how we look at tournaments in the near future.

Anyway, check it all out here:

And as always, please e-mail me at ericakrol@gmail.com if you notice any errors.

Thx,
Eric

that's Because there is too much event in the year so less participation in each event, we won't see anymore 50 to 60 players in our event in NA.

It's sucks but it's life

Hello Mr Pascal! Right now there is no such thing as "too much event". The more events everywhere the better. The more events on all types of table hockey games surge is a very good thing for our growth dispite econmic times. There will be BIG events in the future due to all the new events that have been and continue sprouting up everywhere ! I mean that is our goal no? We can not be selfish. We MUST encourage MORE EVENTS everywhere and anywhere possable.

1 step back 3 steps forward.

I said that because we have less attending, if we need more players in our events we need to reduce the number of event but yes you are right there is not too much event in general, that's good to have lot's of event. Just to clarify my comments. But I don't thinkg it will bring more players that much in the future in the biggest event.

The most recent installment of The GATINEAU Stiga tournament was VERY sparsely promoted and it was promoted late. The price of fuel had skyrocketed...and...there ARE plenty of choices...some closer to home.

I will drive 1.5 hours on Nov 1st to play in NEW Benej tournament. In the process I will miss a league day in John Power's "vintage" league, 2 hours door to door.

It's 4 hours for me to Binghampton and a Stiga event the following week (Nov 8th) with Kenny, Bernie, Stein, Mike Caponetti, Chris and Matt and possibly several other key players.

There is a 2X a month Chexx league 20 miles door to door for me.

Contrast this to 2002 when I had to fly to Colorado and drive another 4 hours to find competition. Chicago was a 14 hour drive to play BOS. Pierre's Rose Bowl was 8 hrs.

"The times the aaaare a changin'" Cheers

Hello. The organizers of the Binghamton tournament sent me their results yesterday and today I finished posting the updated rankings.

You can read them here: http://byline302.tripod.com/ranking/index.html

For as long as I've been updating the web site, I've been trying to figure out how to make the rankings pages look cleaner...they've become a bit unwieldy with all the tournaments these days and two years of rankings to list. I'm no techno-wiz...just passable on a lot of this stuff...but I think I'm going to take the Excel spreadsheets used to track the tournament/rankings page and save them as PDF files, then upload the files to the web site for downloading. I think we have a full version of Adobe on the desktop upstairs that'll allow me to do this. Anyway, I'll experiment and hope it looks cleaner.

Best,
Eric
