Maybe this could give the idea to stage a true canadian championship?

Last one was in may 1991...

what about them? in Moncton in 91 it was the complete red nets, with many ins and outs, same as today.

too bad no one gives a hoot about old time hockey videos... but it's the week-end, people tend to go fishing, instead of checking the internet!

Wanted to do some ice fishing today, but the rink manager said no.

it went down before internet was made public, in the winter of 91.

the first ever canadian championships were held in Moncton, NB in may 91 and only 5 took part in it. Me being the farthest to travel, ended the event 3rd on the 1982 models, those who organised weren't playing the newer ones.

It wasn't like today, that's for sure!

Odd though, that when TSN visited those guys, they should have given some sort of address...

Man alive, Gord Miller looked young. Nothing dates a video like seeing a 5 1/4 inch floppy drive. Hahaha Isn't it cool though how somethings don't really change? There will always be interest in hockey and there will always be goofs who love it so much they will devote their spare time and money to playing a miniature version in basements or apartments while decked out in jerseys or even helmets. Life is good.

So, you're calling serious fans goofs? Been a goof since 1983 as I saw a want ad in a paper of a league looking for players. Started there, played with them for about 4 1/2 years, then with the main company making the games closing shop (thanks to overproduction of CBKs and video games that couldn't compete with Atari and Activision) made the important switch to those darn swedish imports, even made trips overseasot play those guys who have more passion about table hockey than we do, and those guys really do not like watching the real game on ice!!!

As I get older, I do lose an edge, while some people, who got back into playing well, they're almost as fanatic as I am when it comes to fiddling (or competing) with the slots and rods!

But it sure beats those darn videogames!!! That's why there are table hockey discussion boards, talking about all kinds of table hockey.

There is, more to life than table hockey. I for one view table hockey as a hobby, the best view it as a competitive thing. I'm no longer one of the best, the way I've been playing recently...

However, I do agree with you; Gord Miller was young back then. Didn't have McGuire along just yet.

And the goofs you tyalk about are in the other old footage seen on Youtube, a retrospective of a 1971 table hockey function in New York City, with Stan Fischler (well known hockey columnist) dressed as a referee, and guys who did dress as players, helmets included. Maybe those guys were afraid of flying table hockey pucks killing them...
